"If you want to get a visa on short notice and pick it up in Vietnam you can do so through Thao, whom I have copied on this message so you can work with him directly. His name is Thao Tran and he works for a travel agent called Lotussia in Hanoi. Please note that visa on arrival can only be arranged in Hanoi, Saigon and Da Nang. The visa is actually issued before you arrive and they send you a letter of verification so that the airline will allow you to board the flight. When you arrive you go to the VOA desk and pay a US $50 VOA fee and they print the visa out and insert it into your passport. For me this took a total of about five minutes!!
Thao is great and very attentive to detail as well as honest and straightforward (not always easy to find in Vietnam if you do not have local connections) and will take good care of you. While they prefer to work in cash, they can accept CCs for payment. You will need to work the details with Thao, but I also know you will need to fax him the completed standard visa application along with a few other details. He was able to get mine taken care of in 36 hours from start to finish!!
