Day 01 : Ho Chi Minh - Da Lat

Leave Ho Chi Minh city for Da Lat. It is a scenic drive through tea and coffee plantations to the cooler climes of the former colonial hill station, Da Lat. Transfer to hotel on arrival in Da Lat. Overnight in Da Lat.

Day 02: Da Lat

A full day of birding at Mount Lang Bian where the evergreen forests are home to many interesting species including some endemics. Key species to be found at Mount Lang Bian include Silver Pheasant, Indochinese Cuckooshrike, Rufous-capped Babbler, Yellow-billed Nuthatch and Mugimaki Flycatcher. This is also the place to see two of Vietnam 's endemics, the Collared Laughingthrush and the Vietnamese Greenfinch. Overnight in Da Lat.

Day 03: Da Lat

Tuyen Lam Lake, only 3 km from the centre of town, is Da Lat's other hotspot for birders. Take a boat to far side of the lake where a track leads through scrub up to areas of tropical evergreen forest. This is where the Grey-crowned Crocias was recently re-discovered after not being seen for 60 years. Other interesting species here include Red-vented Barbet, Spotted Forktail, Cutia, Black-hooded, White-cheeked and Collared Laughingthrush. Overnight in Da Lat.

Day 04: Da Lat - Ho Chi Minh

Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City. On arrival in Ho Chi Minh City transfer to hotel. End of tour.

Da Lat (dä lät) , city (1989 pop. 87,136), S Vietnam, in the central highlands, alt. c.5,000 ft (1,520 m). Developed by the French as a health resort and hunting center, it is a modern city surrounded by mountains that rise to 7,380 ft (2,249 m). Coffee, tea, tobacco, and temperate-zone vegetables are commercially grown. Da Lat is linked by highway with Ho Chi Minh City and is on a branch rail line from the coastal city of Phan Rang. It has an airport. In the city are a college (founded 1976) and the Ethnic Minority Museum.

Đà Lạt is home to the manmade, 5 km² Xuan Huong Lake. The average temperature is 17°C, and does not exceed 19°C in the hottest season. Early mornings, the city arises to mystic fog over the lake. Its temperate climate is ideal for agricultural production. Đà Lạt is renowned for its orchids, roses, vegetables and fruits. There is a nascent wine-making industry. Western investment has not been kind to Dalat's beauty. San Cu, the land mass of rolling hills occupying fully half of the city and where couples frolicked, was turned into a golf course without access for the average citizen with limited means or interest in golf.
