Hanoi North Western Biking Holiday

Day 01: Arrival in Hanoi

Welcome by Lotussia Travel guide at the airport and transfer to hotel. Time relaxing for promenade around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter. O/N in Hanoi.

Day 02: Hanoi

Visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh stilt house, One pillar pagoda and Temple of Literature. Afternoon exploring of Hanoi's silk area, art galleries or visit Ethnology museum and other museums. Night train to Lao Cai.

Day 03: Lao Cai - Bac Ha (Sunday Market)

Arrive in LaoCai around 6:00AM. Breakfast, jeep transfer to Bao Nhai, bike ride 20 km up hill to Bac Ha. Visit the most colorful hill tribe market day. Afternoon we ride to H’mong village around Bac Ha. O/N in Bac Ha. 

Day 04: Bac Ha - Sapa

Moring transfer to Lao Cai, chanllenge climb up 35km to Sapa (alt. +1,550m). Afternoon cycling around Sapa, visit to TaVan, a village of the Giay minority. O/N in Sapa.

Day 05: Sapa - Heaven Gate - Lai Chau

Best mountain view today, about 3 hours up hill, with a stop over Silver waterfalls for relax before we conquer the highest mountain pass Oquiho. Then decending down the great panoramic view of Hoang Lien Son mt. range.  Lunch en route. Stop en route to visit some nice villages of Hmong and “coins” Dao near BinhLu. O/N in Lai Chau.

Day 06: Lai Chau - Paso - Muong Lay

Some part of the road is bad, but great view along Nam Na river. Scenic Da river from Hang Tom suspension bridge. O/N in Muong Lay.

Day 07: Muong Lay - Dien Bien Phu

A nice ride day with stop over the Red H’mong village before climb up to Mathiho pass. O/N in Dien Bien.

Day 08: Dien Bien Phu - Tuan Giao

Ride back to the former French battlefield : A1 hill, De Castries bunker, Dien Bien museum… you will see some old US weapons here too. Then we have easy ride through many Thai villages to TuanGiao. O/N in Tuan Giao.

Day 09: Tuan Giao - Pha Din pass - Son La

Challenge 20 km winding climb up hill and 15 km down hill. Nice landscape of green rice fields and karst valley. Light traffic, wandering water buffaloes, Thai and Hmong kids. O/N in Sonla.

Day 10: Son La - Moc Chau - Mai Chau

Bus support available. The road passes beneath spectacular karst cliffs with the valley floor visible far below.  Lots of Black Thai villages, descending to Mai Chau valley. O/N on stilt house of Thai.

Day 11: Mai Chau

A relaxing day of cycling, boat cruise, walking to visit villages. O/N on stilt house. 

Day 12: Mai Chau - Hanoi

First 15km out of Mai Chau is up Thung Nhuoi pass, then we go 17km down to Man Duc and two more gentle hill to Doc Cun. (25km). We take a small route to Bai Chao onto Luong Son. Our bus pick up and come back to Hanoi. Farewell dinner. O/N in Hanoi.

Day 13: Departure from Hanoi

Free time at leisure till transfer to airport for departure. End tour.
