Kon Ka Kinh National Park – Gia Lai

Kon Ka Kinh National Park covers an area of 41,780ha in Ayun Commune, Mang Yang District, Gia Lai Province. This is the only national park in Vietnam that includes mixed forest of broad-leaved tree and conifers.

Flora and Fauna

Kon Ka Kinh National Park is home to an abundant forest system with many precious flora families, including florae typical to North Vietnam, species native to Yunnan-Guizhou and the foot of the Himalaya, species native to Malaysia-Indonesia, species native to India-Myanmar, etc, some of which have been listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the world.

The park is also home to endemic fauna species including 5 animal species, 7 bird species, 4 reptile and amphibian species; and 38 other rare species, etc which could be of great value for gene preservation and scientific purposes.

The park plays an important role in the protection of the upstream of the Ba River and the Dak Pne River, which supply water for large crops areas of Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces.

Kon Ka Kinh National Park has been named in the list of ASEAN Heritage Parks since 2003.

What to explore at Kon Ka Kinh national park?

Taking an overview from the peak of Kon Ka Kinh Mountain (1,748m), visitors could enjoy pure and cool air and contemplate grandiose scenery with cloud-cover mountain peaks, silvery waterfalls, singing of various bird species.

The area is also a good place for visitors to discover traditional cultural features of local ethnic groups with typical festival of the Central Highlands as gongs festival, leaving-the-tomb festival, new rice festival.
