Dong Trieu Quang Ninh
Dong Trieu Quang Ninh, one of the 14 rural districts of Quang Ninh Province is located in the north-east region of Vietnam, about 4 hour drive from Hanoi. Dong Trieu district covers an area of 397 km². It might not be an ideal place for trekking, hiking. But the area offers beautiful off the beaten path road cycling tours which can be arranged for those discover Vietnam countryside and rural villages.
Dong Trieu is divided into 6 wards and 15 communes including Dong Trieu, Mao Khe, Xuan Son, Kim Son, Hung Dao, Duc Chinh, Nguyen Hue, Hong Phong, Trang An, Viet Dan, Tan Viet, Binh Duong, Yen Tho, Yen Duc, Hoang Que, Trang Luong, Binh Khe, Hong Thai Dong, Hong Thai Tay, An Sinh, and Thuy An.
When to go
Dong Trieu’s climate is symbolic of the climate of North Vietnam weather; featuring all four seasons. In summer, it is hot, humid and rainy, while monsoons flourish. The average annual temperature recorded is 22.9 °C. In winter, it is cold (between 1 and 3 °C), dry, and sees little rainfall (between 150 mm and 400 mm). The average humidity is 82 percent. Annual average rainfall, influenced by north-eastern monsoons, varies between 1,700 mm and 2,400 mm (maximum recorded is 2751 mm), with rainfall concentrated in the summer months for 90 to 170 days, particularly in July and August.
Getting to Dong Trieu
The best way to get to Dong Trieu from Hanoi is to rent a car with driver. You will be picked up at your place in Hanoi and brought straight to Dong Trieu. The journey takes about 4 hours on road. Those who are on budget can take local public bus from My Dinh/Gia Lam/Giap Bat bus station. Taking a guided tour (with a tour guide) is highly recommended. A guide is really helpful in such an off the beaten track place like Dong Trieu Vietnam.
